Laurentsi was born in Minsk, Belarus, and began playing tennis at the age of six. By age 12, he was competing in national and international tournaments, eventually becoming a Top 10 junior player in Belarus in both the 16U and 18U divisions.
His success earned him full sponsorship through Belarus’ national tennis development program, where he had the opportunity to train alongside elite players and coaches, including Ilya Ivashka (ATP Top 50), Egor Gerasimov (ATP Top 100), Anton Dubrov (Aryna Sabalenka’s coach), and Egor Yatsyk (coach of Aslan Karatsev).
At 17, Laurentsi competed in Belarus’ national selection tournament for the Davis Cup team, finishing sixth and earning a position as an additional player on the team.
In 2011, Laurentsi received a full tennis scholarship to Bethany College in Kansas, where he competed in the NAIA. During both his freshman and sophomore seasons, he won his regional tournament and advanced to the semifinals of the national tournament, where he fell to the eventual champion.
After earning his Bachelor of Science, Laurentsi transitioned into coaching full-time. He spent three years coaching privately before joining Sportime Harbor Island in Mamaroneck, where he continued to develop as a coach over the next three years. He later joined New Rochelle Racquet Club, further expanding his experience working with players of varying ages and competitive levels.
Prior to joining TIA, Laurentsi spent two years focused primarily on developing teenage players, helping them improve their games and advance within their high school varsity and collegiate programs.
Laurentsi brings a strong competitive background, extensive coaching experience, and a deep understanding of player development to TIA. His experience allows him to work effectively with players of all ages and levels, helping each player build the technical skills, confidence, and competitive mindset needed to reach their goals.
