AXEL SABOURIN
PRO TIER: ACADEMY
Axel was born and raised in Marseille, France, where tennis became a major part of his life from an early age. Growing up in the highly competitive French tennis system, he developed into an accomplished player before bringing his game to the United States to pursue collegiate tennis.
Axel began his college career at the University of Indianapolis, competing at the NCAA Division II level, before transferring to the University of Southern Indiana, where he continued his career at the NCAA Division I level in the Horizon League. During his time at USI, Axel established himself as a key member of the Screaming Eagles lineup, eventually competing at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
Throughout his Division I career, Axel earned Horizon League Doubles Player of the Week honors, helped USI reach its first conference postseason berth since transitioning to Division I, and was recognized as a three-time CSC Academic All-District selection, highlighting his achievements both on the court and in the classroom.
Beyond tennis, Axel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and is beginning his Master’s degree in Data Analytics, reflecting his interest in both athletics and the business and analytical side of the sports industry.
Axel’s coaching experience spans France, Colorado, and most recently Miami, where he has worked with players across a wide range of ages and competitive levels. His international playing and coaching background has shaped a versatile approach to player development, allowing him to adapt his instruction to each player’s personality, goals, and stage of development.
On court, Axel brings energy, competitiveness, and positivity to every training environment. Drawing from his experience in the French tennis system and as an NCAA Division I player, he understands the demands of competitive tennis and the importance of creating an environment where players are motivated to work hard, compete, improve, and enjoy the process.
With his international background, high-level collegiate experience, and passion for coaching, Axel brings an exciting combination of competitive experience, education, energy, and commitment to player development to TIA.
