The High Performance Academy is designed for dedicated tennis athletes competing in USTA Sectional, National, and ITF tournaments. This elite program focuses on refining advanced technical, mental, and strategic skills, enabling students to perform at the highest level. TIA offers the resources and expertise necessary for those aspiring to collegiate (NCAA/NAIA) and professional (ATP/WTA) tennis, connecting players and parents with a network of experienced coaches.
Participation in this program is by invitation only, based on player ability, level of commitment, and a recommendation from the Director of Tennis.
ALJOSA PIRIC, DIRECTOR OF HIGH PERFORMANCE & RECRUITING
Aljosa Piric leads the Tournament Team Academy program. His tennis journey began in Bosnia at age 7, advancing through elite training at academies in Italy and Florida. After excelling in collegiate tennis at the University of Richmond, he transitioned from a career in finance to coaching in 2004. Aljosa has made significant coaching contributions at Solaris Racquet Club, Georgia Tech, Old Dominion University, and the University of Miami, where he led teams to top NCAA rankings and numerous victories. His impact also extends internationally as Bosnia’s Davis Cup captain. Aljosa is excited to bring his extensive knowledge and experience to the TIA community.

A dedicated coaching team, led by TIA High Performance Director Aljosa Piric, supporting both New Rochelle and White Plains locations. Our team focuses on tennis development, strength and conditioning, recovery, mental strength, and tournament travel.
Our High Performance staff is focused on player development, team cohesion, and consistent instruction under the direction of our Director—ensuring all training aligns with TIA’s Teaching Philosophy. Coaches are actively involved across all training touchpoints, including group sessions, team practices, private lessons, and tournament travel.
Each player receives an initial development plan, with progress tracked monthly and quarterly. Mid-year evaluations are shared in player, parent, and coach meetings to review progress and set next steps.

Players compete in select events throughout the year, supported by our High Performance Coaching Staff, who track and evaluate performance.
Daily 3–4 hour training blocks are designed to balance development with other commitments.

YOUTH PROGRESSION UTR MATCH PLAY: HIGH PERFORMANCE ORANGE & GREEN BALL PLAYERS
- TIA Location: White Plains
- When: Saturdays, 5-7PM
- Ages: 7-12
- Ball Type: Orange & Green Ball
- Each player is guaranteed one match.
- Timed 1-hour matches.
- 6-game set with a 7-point tiebreaker.
- No-ad scoring.
HIGH PERFORMANCE MATCH PLAY: 14U & 18U PLAYERS
- TIA Location: New Rochelle
- When: Sundays, 6-9PM
- Tracking: Players’ best 20 results count toward final standings
- Prize: Ladder champion receives a TIA apparel, tennis bag, and choice of reel of strings.
Event Format
- 6:00PM: Warm-up – Players learn proper warm-up routines and mentally prepare for competition, simulating a tournament setting.
- 6:30-9PM*: Two rounds of matches, played as best-of-3-sets with a third set-tiebreak.
- Round 1: 6:30-7:45PM
- Round 2: 7:45-9PM
*During the time that players are waiting for matches, they are kept on a schedule and routine to stay warm as they await their match.
Time Matched Rules (75 minutes):
- If time expires and the second set is within one game, players finish the current game. This will either determine a winner or trigger a tiebreak (first to 7 points starting from 4-4).
- If sets are split after this, a final-set tiebreak is played (first to 7 points from 5-5).
- If a match is unfinished but one player leads by a set and more than 2 games in the second, they win.
Competitive Tracking:
- Wins and losses recorded in “Coach Aljosa’s Competitive Matrix” to determine standings.
- Monthly standings published to keep players motivated and the competition transparent.

Team Technical Sessions are specialized training sessions designed to enhance players’ technical skills through consistent, high-quality instruction. Led by our coaching staff under the supervision of High Performance Director Aljosa Piric, these sessions ensure uniformity, consistency, and accuracy across all instructional messaging.
Proper technique is essential to long-term player development. By aligning our staff in both philosophy and execution, we provide a clear, systematic approach rooted in the academy’s technical principles. These sessions emphasize focused repetition, helping players build the technical foundation needed to improve, compete with confidence, and reach their full potential.
As High Performance Director, I will serve as the primary point of contact overseeing all aspects of your child’s development. Our coaching staff is structured so that each group—based on age and skill level—is assigned a dedicated coach who provides consistent mentorship and day-to-day guidance.
This team-based approach ensures continuity in training, clear communication, and a unified development plan for every player. I work closely with our coaching staff to monitor progress and ensure each athlete is developing in a structured and effective way.
If additional individualized focus is ever needed, I will communicate directly with parents and may recommend private lessons on a per-diem basis.
The number of training hours required to reach a top Division 1 (D1) level varies by age and is ultimately individualized based on the player. However, leading tennis federations—including the USTA, Tennis Canada, Tennis Australia, and the International Tennis Federation (ITF)—provide consistent general benchmarks, particularly for 14U players.

Yes—additional court time is available for players who want extra practice outside the standard training schedule. Whether your child wants to hit with another player or focus on specific skills like serving, we’re happy to accommodate.

TOURNAMENT TRAVEL PROGRAM
The High Performance Academy offers comprehensive support for players participating in tournaments. This includes Academy-wide events tailored to specific age groups and skill levels, as well as the creation and management of personalized tournament schedules for our High Performance players. Additional personalized services are also available.
At TIA, we provide a structured, high-performance tournament coaching environment where players are fully supported throughout competition. Coaches attend events with players, allowing families the option to travel or not.
Local Tournaments (Per Day)

Supervision & Travel Support
TIA coaches travel with and support players at all tournaments. Parents are always welcome to attend, but it is not required.
- Players meet coaches at TIA prior to departure
- Coaches travel with players and manage all tournament logistics

Travel Logistics (Out-of-State Events)
- Players meet at TIA, and the group travels together
- Transportation to the airport is coordinated in advance
- Coaches travel on the same flight as players and remain with the group throughout the trip
Travel Expenses
Travel-related costs are not included in coaching fees.
Families are responsible for:
- Flights
- Hotel accommodations
- Meals
- Local transportation
For group travel, these expenses are shared among participating players.
Private travel covers full expenses.
Participation Guidelines
- Group travel requires a minimum of 2 players
- We strongly encourage 3-player groups for optimal experience and value
- Players should demonstrate appropriate independence and responsibility
LEVELS OF TOURNAMENTS
The new tournament structure utilizes seven levels of events, ranging from Level 7 (Intermediate) to Level 1 (National Championships), as well as a national ranking system that will distribute points consistently across the country. Level 1-3 National events are included on the USTA National Junior Schedule and sanctioned by the USTA National Office. Sectional Level 3 – 7 and 10 & Under events are sanctioned by the USTA Eastern Section.

HOME SCHOOL PROGRAM
TIA’s homeschool program is designed for student-athletes aiming for a collegiate career in NCAA/NAIA or a professional career on the ATP/WTA circuit. Our coaches provide focused, intensive on-court training, paired with unparalleled off-court mental and physical conditioning. The homeschool program offers the same benefits and services as the regular High Performance Academy program (see above), with participation following the same guidelines.
