JOSH SILVERSTEIN
SENIOR TENNIS PROFESSIONAL
Josh, a native of Long Island, embarked on his tennis journey at the tender age of three. By the age of nine, he was already competing in tournaments, and by eleven, he began participating in national tours. His exceptional talent propelled him to the pinnacle of the Eastern section, where he achieved a top 10 national ranking and held the coveted Number 1 position in the Eastern Section in both the 16 and under, as well as the 18 and under divisions, establishing himself as one of the most dominant players in the region. Josh honed his skills at Robbie Wagner’s tournament training center in Long Island. During his senior year of high school, he had the privilege of training alongside notable players like Frances Tiafoe at the Junior Tennis Champions Center in College Park, Maryland.
Earning an athletic scholarship to the University of Iowa, Josh dominated primarily at the number 1 position, accumulating an impressive 117 combined singles and doubles victories. His prowess on the court earned him the prestigious All-Big-Ten Honoree award. After college, Josh achieved a professional ranking of 1300, securing a place among the top 35 American players. In 2018, he had the privilege of serving as a US Open practice partner for tennis legends such as Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Nick Kyrgios, Andy Murray, Marin Cilic, Diego Schwartzman, and Kei Nishikori.
Josh’s passions extend beyond playing tennis; he is deeply committed to coaching and mentoring players of all skill levels. In addition to his extensive on-court experience, Josh has dedicated the last few years to studying and implementing effective strength and conditioning practices for the development of high-level tennis players. He’s excited to be part of the community at TIA.
