Alex was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. At the age of 7, he was introduced to the game of tennis while at summer camp — he fell in love with the sport and so began his tennis journey. After years of training and competing in his country, at the national level, he reached a top junior ranking by the age of 14. The dream was to continue improving and pursue an NCAA scholarship in the United States.
Alex’s goals were clear and this helped train with purpose during his high school years. He worked hard to stand out amongst the juniors in the Dominican Republic and in 2015 he made this move to the U.S. Alex started his education by attending a community college to learn and speak English more fluently and prepare himself to achieve his NCAA dreams. While attending school and maintaining high-level tennis training, in 2017 he impressed recruiters and was offered a scholarship to play for Rider University, Division 1 NCAA tennis in New Jersey. His goal of becoming a student-athlete was accomplished. In 2019 Alex graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Science in Business Administration.
During and after his NCAA years, Alex coached at local country clubs in the New York and New Jersey area during the summer. Alex began falling in love with the art of coaching and was ready to provide our TIA community with his positive outlook, knowledge, and experience.
