Gilberto “TITO” Machado

Academy Professional/Summer Camp Director 

Gilberto “Tito” Machado was born in the Canary Islands, Spain. Gilberto started playing at four (4) years of age and at around eight (8) years old he began competition in Spain’s junior circuit. Tennis has always been Tito’s life and passion, in his teens he played national level events in Spain which soon lead to ITF tournaments.

Towards the end of an impressive junior career with solid national and international results and experience in high performance academies like Wiki Team Academy, CAR Riba Competencia, and Equelite Academy in Spain, Tito had his goals set on playing collegiate tennis in the United States. As the recruiting process began he started receiving scholarship offers that lead to playing his first year he played at Missouri Valley College where he reached the conference final and was honored as an All-Conference Team player.

The year after Tito transferred to Bloomsburg University to play NCAA Division 2. Tito played at the top positions of the team and was team captain junior and senior year. Gilberto graduated with a degree in Anthropology and Political Science.

Tito has the enthusiasm and energy required to excel here at TiA, he is eager to coach and develop our players at all ages!
